\ A Little Scrapbook Therapy

I love the label on this layout!

I love the soft suede office label on this layout - so great to write in!  These are some more photos of Rachel's first trip to the park around the corner from our house - seems like ages ago.  She only liked the swing when Daddy was pushing her - if I was pushing her, she freaked out.  It was pretty funny.

Don't you wish that it was this warm out?

It's quite chilly out.  December is definitely freezing here.  I was browsing through all of my summer photos and came across these cute shots from Summer '08.

I digitally scrapped the photos using the My Digital Studio software and the Hoppy Memories digital kit.  This kit comes with the software.  I seriously love these little animals on the layout!

Last night I had a few friends from Meetup.com over to stamp and scrapbook all night and it was a lot of fun!  I got to meet Ashley from St. Thomas and she's so  nice!  I wasn't able to make it to the Eagle Heights PS bazaar last night, so Kristine and Nancy went - I hope that they had a lot of fun!

Another Muppet Baby **ANIMAL** made with Punch art

I enjoyed making the Fozzy bear punch art card SO much that I made another muppet baby card as well.  This time it's ANIMAL!  Does it take you back?  Man - do you remember beaker?  I'll see if I can make him soon.  This is just too much fun (and I think that it is a pretty good indication that I'm starting to get *old*).

Materials to make this:
Bonnet - Scallop circle die and the Big shot.  Whisper White card stock
Face: Clear circle die and the big shot.  Melon Mambo Card stock
Eyes: Scallop circle punch (basic black), 1 3/8" circle punch (whisper white) and paper snips to cut off a portion of the bottom of the eyeball.  1/2" circle punch (basic black) for the middle.  White gel pen for the accent.
Nose: 3/4" circle punch in Pumpkin pie
Mouth: inner portion of the scallop oval frame (basic black), which I layered onto pumpkin pie and used my paper snips to make a border along the bottom for his lower lip (pumpkin pie),  Word window punch for the teeth (whisper white),  1 3/8" circle punch for the tongue (ruby red).

Attention My Digital Studio users - Stampin' Up released a software update.  This is something that you can download for FREE from the SU website through this link: http://www.stampinup.com/ca/enc/15130.asp  To see what this update will do for you please click here: http://www.stampinup.com/ca/documents/My_Digital_Studio_Update.pdf

WOCKA WOCKA WOCKA - Don't you love fozzy bear? Announcement on Clear Stamps!

When I was young, my earliest memory of having a stuffed toy was my Fozzy Bear - I called him Charlie though.  I absolutely loved the muppet babies - they were just adorable.  The other day when I was out shopping for books for Rachel I came across a book called "Fozzy bear goes to the Doctor".  We have read it every night to Rachel for about a week - she loves it and that makes me happy!  I got thinking about the punch art bear that I made a while back and how easy it would be to turn him into a fozzy bear.  What do you think - does it look like Fozzy bear?

Items used to make this:
ears: Scallop circle punch (creamy caramel), 1 3/8" circle punch (pretty in pink)
face: Scallop circle die for the Big Shot
Hat:  inner part of the scallop oval frame for the Big Shot.  I used Yo Yo Yellow and Whisper White card stock.  I just used scissors to cut out the inner white part of the hat.
Mouth: inner part of the scallop oval frame for the Big Shot.  I used ruby red for the mouth.  1 3/8" circle punch for the tongue - I just cut it in half.
Eyes: 1 3/8" circle punch  (whisper white), 1 3/8" circle punch in pretty in pink and basic black - I used the wide oval punch to cut off the bottom part of the lid and just used the top part.  3/4" punch for the eyeball in basic black.
Nose: 3/4" punch in Pretty in Pink.

Stampin' Up Announcement!

*Sit down - this is going to blow your socks off*

I called Stampin' Up this morning and got the go-ahead to share this seriously awesome and exciting news with you!  For years Stampin' Up! has received suggestions to have clear mounted stamps.  They kept declining the request because of the image quality of clear stamps, but they liked the idea of see-though blocks.  THEY DID IT!!!  This is so incredibly exciting for me - and I can't wait to show it to you.  I got permission to share this photo with you - a true sneak peek of what is to come.

Do you want to know what is even more exciting - you will have the CHOICE to get clear or wood mounted stamp sets - a fabulous thing to be able to choose for yourself.  Now - I know that you're probably thinking that they are more expensive than wood mount, but they are not!!!!  Sets that are $36 wood mounted are only $26 in clear!  Are you totally excited!  I am - Stampin' Up sets that maintain the quality that they've always had and a fraction of the price!  They are available starting Jan 5 2010 from Moi.

Thanks for stopping by - Have a wonderful day!

Christmas Tin for holding cards

Jamie asked me to make up a little gift for one of his co-workers, Arlene, who lives just around the corner from us.  She is such a sweetheart and they carpool together every morning.  I was wondering what to make her and I decided on a card tin, filled with cards for the year, and decorated fancy.

The card tin is made by Provo craft and you can get them at practically any craft store that sells scrapbooking storage.  I took a bunch of fun and festive ribbon and tied tons of it on with big chunky knots. The ribbons that I used were all in Real Red by Stampin Up - I used Gingham ribbon, double-stitched, Polkadotted, Mistletoe Ribbon, and striped ribbon.  I love that they are all matching red.

On the inside, I lined it with Real Red card stock and clipped the edges with my tag corner punch so it would fit nicely inside the lid.  Inside the Card tin, I put a whole bunch of cards - some are birthday, thank-you, get well, and a whole bunch of Christmas cards too!  I hope that Arlene likes this.

The lid was also decorated with a sheet of designer paper from the Merry Moments collection.  I lined the edge of the lid with Mellow Moss Grosgrain ribbon and two mellow moss buttons.  The ribbons wouldn't stay on with regular adhesive, so I put them on with Crystal Effects instead which is a lot like Krazy Glue for crafting.

The base of the tin also uses two different sheets of paper from the Merry Moments collection. I wrapped a long strand of ribbon around the tin placing it over the area where the two papers meet.  I like to cover that seam to stop it from fraying and also to prevent any crazy paper cuts.  Paper cuts from designer paper are so much more nasty than from regular paper.  Once I had the sides covered, I added on a large scalloped oval frame that I cut out using the Big Shot and the Scallop Oval Bigz die.  I cut out two of these, one in red and one in white and layered them to create this.  I then used my White gel pen to add polka-dotted accents onto the red scallop oval frame.

Lastly, I added the word JOY to the scallop oval frame.  I cut it out using the Simple Letters dies for the Big Shot and Garden Green Card stock.  I used my white gel pen to add faux-stitching around the letters as well.  If you would like to have one of these made for you, please contact me and I'll get to work.  The cost would be $35.00 and would include the tin, decorated as shown, and filled with 10 cards for the year.

August 2008 Portraits

Yes, I've been posting a lot of digital scrapping lately - honestly I haven't been doing a lot of it.  Each layout that I've posted over the last week has taken me about 4-7 minutes to complete.  I'm working on a project that I hope to have finished in time for Mother's Day (long way away).  It's going to be a 100 page book that I am making, so really I have to do a hundred layouts and I want to make sure that I have enough time to make it in.  This was Rachel in August 2008 - my little farmhand!

Ah - She's an angel one minute... and a devil the next!

Life with a two year old can be so vastly different from one hour to the next.  Doesn't she look like an angel here?  Yes - she was just under 1 yr old when this was taken and she was an angel on the inside and out back then.  Now that she's two - UGH - she sure knows how to manipulate and bat her eyes.  She's an angel one hour and a little bugger the next.  Someone convince me not to send Santa the naughty list....

Stampin' Up!'s Online Extravagana is ending tomorrow.  If you would like to get 30%, 40% or 50% bundle deals you will want to check out the Extravganza deals today - the sale ends tomorrow!  Shown here is the Simply Said Bundle.  This is one of my all-time favourite sets.  The bundle is priced at $44.31 and if the items were purchased seperately it would cost over $74.00.  Anyone in Canada can take advantage of this deal - just click the link below to go to the store.

I had one of those days... so I scrapped it

I think that every Mom has had one of these days.  Last Friday Rachel and I spent the whole day together - it was a better day for me physically and we took advantage of it and had tickle fights, chased each other around the house, played peek-a-boo, the hokey pokey, and goofed around colouring and yelling into toilet paper rolls "chugga chugga choo choo! It was just a fun day.

We didn't get any chores done and I didn't care.  It was a rare day and we took advantage of it.

We were laying on the floor in my bedroom investigating with flashlights what was in the closet and under the beds - when we got laughing about something.  It was the green glow-in-the-dark spider left over from Halloween.  Then it happened.  When we calmed down from laughing we just sort of stared at each other.  Deeply.  And when looking into the eyes of a 2 year old, it's a miracle when they hold your gaze and let out a sigh.  We don't have a lot of carefree days.  Truly, I hate that.  It pains me to think of all of the playing that we don't get to do with each other because of my neck problems.  But we just laid there, staring at each other and it seemed like time just stopped.  She softly said "lub you mom" and I just bawled uncontrollably - but with a huge smile on my face.

Rachel Roo - you are two!

As I was playing around with the new Digital download "write stuff kit" for the My Digital Studio software I found this awesome tag in the kit!  I love the shape and that it comes with all of the lines to journal on - it jst fits great on this layouthttp://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=120881.  I took a few minutes to write about what Rachel is like at the moment - what things she likes to do, eat, play with, sing, etc.  Her favourite song is "twinkle twinkle little star" which is adorable!

Part of the Online Extravaganza deal that ends in 3 DAYS is the bundle called "animal crackers" which is one of my all time favourite set - it is so cute, whimsical, and has awesome sayings!  The bundle also comes with some fabulous and huge brads - Seperately these two items would cost over $35 but the bundle is priced at $17.73 - you can order this through my online store (link is below!
